Friday Favorites

Hi Y'alL!

Woohoo its Friday!!! But I have been on vacation since yesterday so actually for me it's not a good thing because I want time to slow down not speed up!  And sorry for not posting I was so convinced I was going to have it all done and then I go and forget my memory stick that I needed to upload the pictures! DUR! But oh well what are you going to do.  I have had a pretty stressful morning thanks to dealing with some friend issues :( but I am still so happy to be here.  I probably am going to get a hair cut today, mail some boxes of stuff to myself and hopefully relax with my doggie! I also hope to try some new restaurants that are on my list to try thanks to unique sweets and unique eats!

Fashion week starts soon and I can't wait to see what all my favorite bloggers wear (plus they are coming to NYC so maybe I will become the ultimate stalker but shh).  Here are some of my favorite looks from this week:

I have two favorite songs that are on constant replay on my iphone and they are:

Hilary Duff - All About You.
I am so excited that she is releasing new music.  I mean I grew up with her and to make things better my favorite cooking channel show is Real Girl's Kitchen which is done by her sister but Hilary makes appearances here and there.

The other song on constant replay is:
Eric Church - Springsteen
I am very much into a chill and almost super country vibe.  It probably is the result of me really missing the south and wanting to get away from the environment that is New York City.

Lastly, I am loving this comforter from Target
Basically I just want to decorate and settle into my Aunt's place now that I am not planning on moving for a while.

Winning Wednesday

Hi Y'all!

I figured I would use this post to comment on the fashion worn by the celebrities at the VMAs and Emmys. I have to start off and say that nothing too crazy happened at the VMAs this year and though there was some interesting fashion choices, nothing that really blew my mind.

Here are my favorite looks:

And there was much more styling and fashion going on at the Emmys last night.  I missed most of it but enjoyed seeing all the different dresses as people presented! Here are my favorite looks:

I leave tomorrow for Austin early in the morning! I plan to make sure that my Travel Thursday post will be posted before I take off!

Tasty Tuesday: Food Truck Update

Hi Y'all!

No new recipe for today but I thought I would share how my search for a delicious lunch is going!  I have started to try several different food trucks and my favorite are these three so far:

1) Korilla BBQ - Korean BBQ and Mexican fusion! They are a go to place for Tuesday for me now - quite a bit of heat but for someone who has avoided spice for most of her life I still manage to snarf the burrito down and be quite a happy camper.

2) The Morris Truck - grilled cheese but better... using local cheeses and local ingredients this is a truck that is "snail approved" - taking the whole slow fast food approach.  And it is my go to for Thursdays now! I have had the fried green tomatillos sandwich and the truffle sandwich.  Both were excellent! I can't wait to try the next one...

3) The Halal Guys - excellent! That is all I can say and that I wish you had smell-o-vision.

Other food trucks I have tried:
Gorilla Cheese - was ok.  I definitely had heartburn afterwards so probably won't get it again but it did seem that a lot of people really liked their sandwiches.

Hibachi Heaven - was not my favorite.  It wasn't bad but I just didn't really enjoy it.

The Pierogie Truck - absolutely loved and may have to get tomorrow.

Taco Bite- was good but I prefer to eat Korilla for more flavor.

Now this is not a food truck but a lunch eatery place - 'wichcraft! I love their classic grilled cheese but I heard about their cookie sandwiches from Unique Sweets and had to try the oatmeal caramel (even though I don't like the caramel) and it was delicious.  I am going to have to try another flavor (probably tomorrow).

Welcome Back Monday

Hi Y'all!

I had such a busy weekend and as a result I didn't get nearly enough done.  But, my cousin was in town so we did some exploring of Brooklyn on Saturday and enjoyed some delicious food! I can't wait to share all that with y'all on Thursday! I also will be heading to Austin on Thursday to spend some time with my family during Labor Day weekend.  So that should be fun! I hopefully will then go for a night out of the city the following weekend to start moving stuff back from storing it at a family friend's house and hopefully I will get a weekend with S in the city and then another weekend with S out in Connecticut.  I also may end up helping my mom drive from Austin to Colorado so I know September is going to fly by because I have lots of plans and even want to get to DC for a weekend so that I can catch up with T and R and see my sister's family.  So lots of plans!!

With "back to school" shopping in full swing, and most schools already starting or about to start next week I can't but get a little nostalgic and start thinking about what planner (and supplies I might need) for the coming "school" year even though I won't be returning to school.  This will be the first time that is happening to me in over 17 years.  Isn't that crazy?  But here are some of my picks from Swoozies - basically either Kate Spade or Lilly Pulitzer.

Back To School...sort of...

Friday Favorites

Hi Y'all!

My cousin is staying with me this weekend so we are going to do some exploring. Perhaps get to Brooklyn (or hit the beach) we shall see.  Just thought I would share some of my favorite things this week.

As I upload my photos from iPhoto to Flickr, I have started to come across old photos from my past trips.  This photo above is of a necklace that I fell in love with while shopping at the Bloomingdales at the Dubai Mall.  It was quite expensive because it is encrusted with diamonds and a saphire but I just found it so elegant and gorgeous.  Though the Hamza that I wear every day has a turquoise stone and it reminds me of my time in Israel - so I would not give it up in a thousand years but I do love this one above.

My other favorite symbol that comes from history/religion/Middle East is the Ankh.  If I was to ever get a tattoo, it would be an white tattoo of an ankh on my wrist.  I am not sure if symbols have any real affect on people but I just feel such a comfort from them that I forget logic and cling to them!

There has been some great fashion looks from my two go to stars (i.e. Olivia Palermo and T-Swift - which I love her new song, you can tell she is just really having fun)!

And I can't forget my Fashion Bloggers:
SPAZMAG
Southern Curls and Pearls

The Pink Peonies

Barefoot Blonde
Just absolutely love these looks! Partially because they are helping me accept that summer is ending and it will shortly be fall but these are still great looks!

I also finally joined the fitness technology of the time and got a fitbit - I want to see how this goes but I still might give in and also get the Jawbone Up just to compare and see how they go.  So I used it last night for going to sleep and then this morning and it seems interesting.  I will have to do some reading to figure out what all I can use it for.  But I am excited.  I also already use Nike + Run app and Foodeducate but now I will get to incorporate fitbit into my daily routine.

Now that I have my fitbit, I would consider getting one of the following bands from Tory Burch - who did an exclusive collaboration with Fitbit.

Last but not least, I read WWD every day (well I also am a bit behind) and just the other day I read about how Brooke Shields is doing a collaboration with MAC.  I love it! I don't wear much makeup ever but I love Brooke Shields and she has a very natural aura about her and I have a feeling that the makeup she designed will be right in her style. Below is a quick glimpse of what will be available come October 2.  This will be the largest "icon" collection done by MAC so it should be really exciting.

Thanks for reading!
